What’s making waves this week across the Atlantic
Canada and Portugal signed a General Security of Information Agreement (GSOIA) in Lisbon, agreeing to Strengthen Defence and Security Cooperation.
Canada’s Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne headed to Denmark for a meeting with several of his European counterparts and an Arctic Roundtable.
In case you missed it, Security Action for Europe (SAFE) published a tentative allocation of funds by member states. Noah’s TNSR has a great summary of SAFE and the limited role Canada may play in it.
Following lenders such as Export Development Canada (EDC) and the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), now Investissement Quebec (IQ) and the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec are removing the stigma attached to investing in the defence sector. Quebec says the sector is one of its top-3 priorities for the year and more than 15,000 jobs are linked to the sector (link in French only).
Ottawa-based Tactiql signed an MOU with Kongsberg Geospatial.
In post-DSEI news, Soucy Defence gave a post-event report on its London (UK) CRT forum, and Paradigm Shift highlighted their signed an agreement with Perfect Bore Manufacturing (UK).
Finally, counteroffensive.pro published How foreign weapons are put to the test in Ukraine. According to CO, Ukraine is a testing ground for new foreign defense products and technologies, and many companies take advantage of the real battlefield conditions to try out their products.
