What's making waves across the Atlantic
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Minister Tim Hodgson’s visit to London showcased Canada’s leadership and commitment to Canada–U.K. collaboration on critical minerals, nuclear energy, and other strategic priorities under our ambitious agenda as this year’s G7 hosts. The Trade Commissioner Service touted this unique relationship in a recent video.
German TKMS listed on the Frankfurt stock exchange in the midst of a defence bull market and revival, touting its 18B euro order book. TKMS is one of two leading competitors for Canada’s submarine replacement program.
The ministers of Norway and Germany headed to Ottawa to build political ties and tout a trilateral security relationship, and pitch for the new submarines. The Canadian media referred to it as a charm offensive. Canada’s Secretary of State for Defence Procurement vaunted the relationship between like-minded allies.
Canada wrapped up a cyber and security-related trade mission to Italy. The Trade Commissioner Service also released a hokey but genuine video targeting their services in the defence sector.
Montreal-headquartered Genetec joined the Polish Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
Ontario launched its Ontario Defence Association at its annual southern-Ontario defence shin-dig, Best Defence.
Canada EU Trade and Investment Association (CEUTIA) hosted 16 bilateral chambers of commerce and trade commissioners from 14 embassies to discuss the Canada-EU trade diversification agenda.
Canada started consultation for its Buy Canada policy and held political consultations on the upcoming defence industrial strategy.
